By-Laws & Regulations
Effective: Spring, 2008
1. Lots and graves shall be sold by the Chairman of the Cemetery Board or the Caretaker. The sale will be covered by a rate for perpetual care set forth in the tariff of rates and the Secretary-Treasurer will issue an official receipt, deed, and copy of the bylaws.
2. Each purchaser is responsible to pay for four corner-markers supplied and placed by the Caretaker at ground level at each corner of the lot before any interment is made. Corner markers must not be less than 6” square and between 6” and 12” in depth.
3. Two interments may be made in one grave when the first burial is made at the required extra depth. Each grave shall be of sufficient depth to give a covering of at least 3’ of earth over the outside cover or shell of the coffin or vault. The Cemetery Board must be notified at the time of the first interment if two burials are anticipated.
4. Human remains only shall be interred within the boundaries of the Cemetery.
5. No interment shall be made without the written order of the owner of the lot or grave or his/her legal representative.
6. Not more than 6 cremation urns shall be interred in one burial plot without the permission of the Board..
7. All interments should be inside a concrete vault.
8. Graves must be sold in lots and ranges, and new lots or ranges will only be accessed for additional sales as required by the Chairman and/or the Caretaker. No sales will be made in Range 8.
9. In order to keep the Cemetery uniform and well maintained at all times, sales of lots and multiple-grave lots are sold in westerly range-pairs only when easterly ranges are full, or when a multi-grave lot is required and cannot be accommodated in the former ranges.
10. Single-grave lots, double-grave lots, and triple-grave lots are sold only side-by-side fashion within a range. 6-grave lots and 8-grave lots must be sold in back-to-back fashion. 4-grave lots may be sold in a row, or back-to-back.
11. Notice of each interment to be made shall be given to the Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer, or Caretaker at least 24 hours in advance of interment except under very special circumstances.
12. No interments will be allowed during January, or February, or March. Interments during November, December and April are only permitted at the discretion of the Chairman and the Board.
13. No body shall be moved or disinterred without the written consent of the local medical officer of health and the owner of the lot, except on an order from the court or as provided in the Regulations under the Cemeteries Act.

15. All monuments, markers or corner-markers shall be constructed of granite, marble, or bronze.
16. No inscription shall be placed on any monument which in the opinion of the Trustees is not in keeping with the dignity and decorum of the Cemetery.
17. If any trees or shrubs situated in any lot shall have in the opinion of the Board, become by means of their roots or branches or in any other way detrimental to the adjacent lots or the general appearance of the grounds, the Board may remove such trees, shrubs or parts thereof. Borders, fences, railings, walls, stone copings, trees and hedges are prohibited.
18. Artificial wreaths and flowers must be removed by May 1st each year. Artificial flowers are not permitted during the growing season (May through October). No Solar -lighting mechanisms are permitted.

- only one upright monument is permitted on each two or four-grave lot. Two upright monuments may be placed on 6-grave and 8-grave lots. An individual flat monument may be placed at the head or foot of any grave to a maximum size of 12’ by 18”;
- on single lots and cremation lots must be flat to the ground;
- must be placed on the west end of a grave, but may not be placed on row 1 (the most westerly burial row east of the road-way) or row 8 (the most easterly row next the orchard). Therefore monuments can only be at the head of a grave or the middle of a 4-grave, 6-grave, or 8-grave lot.
